found this on 411mania.com this morning...
According to MTV.com, Metallica are suing independant Canadian rockers Unfaith over what they call "unsanctioned usage of two chords [Metallica] have been using since 1982 : E and F."
"People are going to get on our case again for this, but try to see it from our point of view just once," stated drummer Lars Ulrich. He adds that they're not saying they own the two chords, individually - "that would be ridiculous" - just that in that specific order, people have grown to associate E, F with their music, and their continued usage in the same song causes "confusion, deception and mistake in the minds of the public."
full article is here
What the hell is wrong with this band? i mean... shit every band ever and a vast majority of music over the years, since the inception of the chord must've used that chord progression at some point?? Lars and the boys need to sort their life out.

I TOTALLY agree, this band are just loosin/lost the plot! Dunno bout Master of Puppets more like a bunch of fkn' muppets, a band with FAR too much time on their hands!!!!
Btw - Did I tell you folks I've got a number of law suits runnin' against people with the letter 'A' in their name as I have it in mine, so I don't wish others to use it!!!!
They should shut up and GROW UP!

Ya' know, I thought this thread was a joke when I saw the title. Are you telling me that it's not??? This is legit???? If so, then that's horribly pathetic. I want to sue Lars for taking up more than his allotted share of air for a given year. I ALSO want to sue them for using the color black on their s/t release, for having the word METAL in their name (false advertising) and for playing on the lollapalooza tour when they weren't an alternative band. Thank you much.

it's true.. there's a statement about it on their gay ass site... which uses HTML and Flash, so all web authors had better watch out if they're usin' any of the aforementioned technologies.
i hated metallica before this
I hate them more now.
Die lars die.
and you hetfield
and you pimp-boy hammet

It's a joke. Check the address you are at, drop everything BUT the www.scoopthis.com, and see the name of the person who does the site, the check the name of the guy in the band Unfaith. Then also check what the site is about. I, personally am ashamed of The Rock choosing to do a TV show like THAT!!!

ROFL....It's actually a pretty brilliant but risky marketing scheme to get people to know about the band "Unfaith" by tricking them into some bogus but funny news release.
Check out who owns both the domain names. These guys could run the risk of being sued for using MTV's logo and useing their content without permission or defamation of character by Metallica. That is if those two entities don't have a sense of humour....LOL
